Public protest is an important yet diminishing form of public expression, particularly in first world democracies. In the very political structures designed to allow debate, ambivalence and apathy dominate. Yet protest still exists, and the images in this series cover a range of important issues including indigenous rights, refugee policy, industrial relations, the war on Iraq and the ongoing issues between Israel and Palestinians.
